SASSA Appeal Status Check 2026: SRD R370 Appeal Results

Check your SASSA SRD R370 appeal status at srd.sassa.gov.za/appeals/appeal. See what Appeal Pending, Approved and Dismissed mean, and what to do next.

You check your SASSA SRD R370 appeal result at srd.sassa.gov.za/appeals/appeal. You need your 13-digit South African ID number, the phone number SASSA has on file, and the one-time PIN (OTP) that arrives by SMS.

This page explains what each result means, how long a decision takes, and what to do when your appeal is approved, dismissed, or still Pending for months.

What an SRD appeal status check is

An appeal status check is a look at the formal appeal you lodged against one Declined SRD month. A SASSA SRD appeal is free. ITSAA, the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals, decides it. ITSAA is part of the Department of Social Development, separate from SASSA.

One appeal covers one declined month. If you were declined for three months, you need three appeals, and each one gets its own result on its own timeline.

SRD status check and appeal status check: two separate pages

The SRD status check lives at srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status and shows Pending, Approved or Declined for your monthly payment. The appeal status check lives at srd.sassa.gov.za/appeals/appeal and shows Appeal Pending, Appeal Approved or Appeal Dismissed.

The two pages update separately. A month can still say Declined on the payment page while the appeals page already shows Appeal Approved, so do not use one to guess the other.

People search for sassa status check appeal, srd status check appeal, 370 sassa status check appeal and appeal status check for srd, and all of those lead to the appeals page. In 2026, the srd.sassa.gov.za appeal route is still the only official way to see an appeal result online.

Use the SRD appeals portal to lodge or check an appeal. An application-status result and an appeal outcome are separate records.

SASSA appeal status check 2026: step by step

Six steps take you from the login screen to the result for every month you appealed.

Open the SASSA appeal portal

Load the official appeals page in your browser. The check is free and you can repeat it as often as you like. It also works on a cheap phone with a small data bundle.

  1. Open srd.sassa.gov.za/appeals/appeal.
  2. Fill in the 13-digit South African ID number field.
  3. Fill in the 10-digit South African mobile number that SASSA holds for you.
  4. Tap Send PIN and wait for the SMS.
  5. Enter the one-time PIN you received.
  6. Read the status for each month, take a screenshot, and write down your Appeal reference.

Appeal Pending, Appeal Approved or Appeal Dismissed: what each one means

Your appeal ends in one of three results, and the correct response is different for each one.

Appeal Pending

Appeal decision times vary. Check your submitted month on the official portal; see our appeal timing guidance for the distinction between submission deadlines and processing targets.

Appeal Approved

ITSAA accepted that the decline was wrong and told SASSA to pay for the month you appealed. The backdated payment rule then applies: SASSA pays from your original application date for the months you appealed, into the bank account on your profile.

Appeal Dismissed

ITSAA agreed with the original decline. That closes the appeal route for that month and you cannot send a second appeal for it. A dismissal for one month does not touch any other month.

How to send a written appeal for one declined month

You send one written appeal per declined month, on the appeals portal, before that month's 90-day window closes.

  1. Do an SRD status check at srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status and write down the decline date and the decline reason for the month.
  2. Count 90 days from the decline date. Once the appeal cut-off date has expired for that month, the portal will not take a new appeal for it.
  3. Go to the appeal portal and confirm who you are with your ID number and an OTP.
  4. Pick the declined month from your SRD application history.
  5. Choose the appeal reason that matches your decline reason.
  6. Attach your supporting documents.
  7. Tick the Declaration and Consent box.
  8. Submit, then save the reference number on the screen. That is your Appeal reference for future checks.

This is the sassa appeal online route, so there is no need to queue at an office to file. Three declined months means three appeals, each with its own papers and its own 90 days.

Which supporting documents answer each decline reason

Match the paper to the exact decline reason on your file, because a general letter does not answer the specific reason.

Decline reasonWhat to attach
Income Source IdentifiedThree months of bank statements, plus a short note explaining any small amounts that come in
Identity Verification FailedA smart ID card or green ID book; a Home Affairs acknowledgement letter if your ID is being fixed; a SASSA office affidavit (sworn statement) if you have no ID yet
UIF RegisteredUIF records, or a letter from your nearest Department of Labour office, or a resignation letter or retrenchment letter showing the job ended
NSFAS RegisteredProof that you stopped studying, NSFAS records, or an affidavit confirming you are no longer enrolled
Existing Grant DetectedA Child Support Grant award letter, plus the child's birth certificate if that grant is for your child and not for you
Government Employee / IPR5A letter from your employer, or a sworn statement that you do not work for government, plus any IPR5 record you can get
Duplicate ApplicationAn affidavit confirming you applied only once and did not use two ID numbers

If your ID was lost or stolen, open a case with SAPS and attach the case number with your affidavit. The Department of Employment and Labour can also confirm on paper that no UIF is being paid to you.

Why a bank statement helps every appeal

ITSAA looks at money moving through your account no matter what the decline reason says. Three months of clean bank statements, showing no unexpected income, settle most arguments early. If money does come in, explain it in one line each time.

Who decides your appeal, and what happens at each stage

ITSAA decides it. The tribunal works independently of SASSA, under the Department of Social Development, and it can reverse a decline or confirm it.

Day 1 to day 30: your file is registered and records are pulled

Your appeal is logged, an Appeal reference is issued, the status turns to Appeal Pending, and an SMS confirms receipt. ITSAA then collects your SRD application history and means test records for the months you appealed. Your details are checked against Home Affairs records, and against SARS data, UIF records and NSFAS records where those apply.

Day 30 to day 60: the tribunal panel weighs the evidence

The panel tests your papers against your specific decline reason under the SRD Regulations. It does not start your whole eligibility check again from zero.

Day 60 to day 90: the decision reaches you

An SMS announces the outcome and the portal status changes to Appeal Approved or Appeal Dismissed. That decision is final at the administrative level.

How long will the SRD appeal take in 2026?

The sassa status check appeal date you see for each month is the decline date, and the 90-day window runs from there. That window is your deadline to submit. ITSAA's deadline to decide is separate.

  • Check the appeals portal every two to three weeks.
  • After 90 days with no change, you can reasonably follow up.
  • Once Appeal Approved appears, allow 1 to 3 payment cycles for the money to land.

Do not send the same appeal twice

A duplicate does not move you up the queue. It can be flagged as a Duplicate Application, and that slows the month down. Only chase ITSAA after 90 days have passed with no decision.

If your appeal is approved, when do you get paid?

The money leaves in the next available SRD batch payment after the approval, which usually means 1 to 3 payment cycles.

  1. The approval goes back to SASSA from ITSAA.
  2. SASSA applies the backdated payment rule: pay runs from your original application date for the months you appealed, not from the approval date.
  3. Only the appealed months are backdated. Months you never appealed stay unpaid.
  4. The money goes to the bank account on your profile, and that account must be in your own name.
  5. Watch the normal status check for Paid, then for the payment date.

A worked example

Two approved months at R370 each total R740. That is arrears for two months, not a higher monthly grant. Approval does not guarantee a combined deposit or a particular payment date; check each month on your status record.

SRD payments follow the monthly SRD batch processing cycle, so an approval that arrives after the batch closes waits for the next run. The SRD batch payment schedule is the same one used for every other SRD payment.

If your banking information is wrong

The payment bounces back to SASSA and nothing lands. Fix your banking information in the banking section of srd.sassa.gov.za, then wait for the next cycle.

If nothing arrives

After 30 days with no payment, call the Toll-Free Helpline on 0800 60 10 11. Keep the screenshot of Appeal Approved in your gallery as proof.

What happens if your SASSA appeal is dismissed?

A dismissal confirms the decline for that month and ends the appeal route inside SASSA, so the next options sit outside it.

High Court judicial review

Explain the source of disputed deposits and provide accurate supporting evidence through the official appeal process. A court case or a once-off deposit does not by itself establish your eligibility or guarantee that an appeal will succeed.

Your other months are still open

Yes, your other declined months stay open, because each month is judged on its own evidence. A dismissal for one month does not weaken an appeal for another month, as long as that month is still inside its own 90 days.

My appeal has been Pending for more than 3 months

After 90 days with no movement, first prove the appeal was submitted, then contact SASSA with your details.

  1. Open the appeal portal and confirm the month is listed with an Appeal reference.
  2. Check that your registered phone number is still active and still yours.
  3. Call 0800 60 10 11, Monday to Friday, during business hours (confirm current availability), or send a WhatsApp to 082 046 8553.
  4. Have your ID number and your appeal submission date ready before you call.

You can also email srd@sassa.gov.za. Put your ID number, the month and the submission date in the first line so the query is easy to route.

Tips that make an appeal stronger

Small details decide most appeals, so get the basics right before you press submit.

  • Read your exact decline reason first, then choose papers that answer it.
  • Use documents for the month you are appealing, not for a later month.
  • Keep the written part short, factual, and dated.
  • Appeal each month on its own and watch each 90-day window.
  • Add three months of bank statements even when the reason looks unrelated.
  • Keep your phone on and your number current.
  • Take a screenshot of the confirmation screen and save your reference number.
  • Never pay anyone to file or fast-track an appeal. Report them to the SASSA general helpline on 0800 60 10 11.

SASSA payment dates while you wait

In November 2026 the Older Persons grant is paid on Friday 30 October 2026, Disability grants on Monday 2 November 2026, and children's grants on Tuesday 3 November 2026; the SRD R370 date for November 2026 has not been released.

The Old Age grant pays R2,400 for people aged 60 to 74 and R2,420 from age 75, a Disability grant pays R2,400, and the Child Support Grant pays R580 per child.

SRD R370 runs on its own monthly cycle and is not part of those three dates. Read SASSA Payment Dates November 2026 and the full SASSA Payment Dates 2026/27 schedule for the month you need.

A public holiday such as Heritage Day, or a week affected by the local government elections, can move a payment day. Check the month page before you travel to a pay point.

SassaCheck is an independent information guide for South African grant applicants. We are not affiliated with SASSA or the government. We only ask for your ID number and cellphone number in the status check form, to fetch your status from SASSA, without saving the raw ID or cellphone number in our application database. Security hashes and operational logs are retained separately; see our data-handling explanation. We never ask for your PIN, OTP or password, and we point you to SASSA's own pages for every action.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I see my appeal result in 2026?

At srd.sassa.gov.za/appeals/appeal. Enter your 13-digit ID number, enter the phone number SASSA has for you, tap Send PIN, and use the OTP that arrives by SMS. The page then lists each month you appealed with its status.

Which link opens the appeal status page?

Use the SRD appeals portal to lodge or check an appeal. An application-status result and an appeal outcome are separate records.

What does Appeal Pending mean on the SASSA site?

It means ITSAA has your file and has not finished reviewing it. Pending is not a refusal. Leave the appeal alone, keep your phone on, and check again in about two weeks.

How many days do I have to appeal a declined month?

You have 90 days from the decline date shown for that month. That is the sassa status check appeal date you must work from. If the appeal cut-off date has expired, the portal will not accept a new appeal for that month.

How long does an SRD appeal take in 2026?

Read the guidance above for this topic.

After Appeal Approved, when does the money come?

Payment follows in the next available batch, usually within 1 to 3 payment cycles. SASSA pays from your original application date for the appealed months, into the bank account on your profile.

Can I appeal if I was declined for several months?

Yes, but each month needs its own appeal. Pick the month, choose the matching reason, attach the papers for that month, and submit. A single appeal cannot cover three months at once.

What happens if my appeal is dismissed?

The decline stands for that month and you cannot appeal that same month again. You can still look at a High Court judicial review on legal grounds, ask Black Sash at blacksash.org.za for free advice, and appeal any other declined month that is still inside its 90 days.

Is the normal status check the same as the appeal status check?

No. The SRD status check at srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status shows Pending, Approved or Declined for your payment. The appeal status check at srd.sassa.gov.za/appeals/appeal shows Appeal Pending, Appeal Approved or Appeal Dismissed. They update separately.

My appeal has been Pending for more than three months. What now?

Check that the month shows an Appeal reference, then contact SASSA on 0800 60 10 11, WhatsApp 082 046 8553 or srd@sassa.gov.za. Give your ID number and the date you submitted. Office hours are Monday to Friday, during business hours (confirm current availability).

Can I check my appeal without an OTP?

No. The portal sends a one-time PIN to your registered phone number and you must enter it to see the result. If the number is old or dead, update your registered phone number at srd.sassa.gov.za first.

What exactly is a SASSA SRD appeal status check?

It is the online look at the appeal you filed against a Declined SRD month. It shows whether the tribunal is still busy, has approved your month, or has dismissed it.

How can I tell if my appeal was approved, dismissed or is still open?

Read the label next to the month. Appeal Pending means the appeal is still open, Appeal Approved means ITSAA reversed the decline, and Appeal Dismissed means the decline was upheld. A screenshot keeps the evidence safe.

Does an approved appeal pay me for every month since I applied?

No. Only the months you appealed are backdated, and each of those is paid from your original application date. Months you never appealed are not included.

How long can Pending last?
