SassaCheck Editorial: who writes our pages
SassaCheck's pages are written and maintained by SassaCheck Editorial, one institutional byline, and we do not publish individual author names.
Who writes SassaCheck
SassaCheck's pages are written and maintained by SassaCheck Editorial, a single byline that stands for everyone who works on this site.
SassaCheck Editorial is not a person. It is the desk name for the people who write, check and update every page here. When you read a page on this site, a person has read it too, and that person is covered by this byline.
We do not publish a photograph, a job title or a list of credentials for an author who does not exist. If you want to know who is accountable for the site, the answer is SassaCheck Editorial, and the operator details are one email away.
Why we do not publish individual bylines
We do not publish individual author names because the only way to fill a byline page like this without real, named people would be to invent them, and we will not do that.
Other sites in this niche list authors with photographs, years of experience and job titles that nobody can check. We are not going to add an invented face to a page about your grant. A stock photo next to a byline is a small lie that makes every other claim on the page harder to believe.
If that changes, the new byline will carry a real name, a real photograph and a profile we can stand behind, and this page will change on the same day that name first appears on a page.
What SassaCheck Editorial writes about
We write about SRD status results, what each status means, and what you can do next.
That covers the SRD grant, the statuses the portal returns, appeals, banking details, changing your phone number and the monthly payment dates.
- What each SRD status means
- How to appeal a decline
- How to change your banking details
- How to change your phone number
- SRD news and updates
We do not write about grants that do not exist, apps we cannot check, or anything that asks you to share a PIN, a password or an OTP.
How we check facts before a page goes live
Every amount, threshold, deadline and status definition is checked against a SASSA or Department of Social Development publication before it appears on a page.
Each fact carries a link to where it came from and the date we checked it. If we cannot find a primary source, we say so instead of filling the gap with a guess.
- Primary sources only. We use
sassa.gov.za,srd.sassa.gov.za, Department of Social Development publications and Government Gazettes. - Visible dates. Every page shows when it was published and when a person last read it.
- No paid placement. No grant, service, helper or website can pay to be featured here, and we do not sell links.
- We are not a government body. Every page carries that statement.
- Corrections within five business days. Email hello@sassacheck.org.za and we investigate.
- No ghost bylines and no syndicated filler. If a page was drafted with machine assistance, a person checked every fact in it against a primary source before publication.
- Observed and confirmed are kept apart. We never present an observation as a statement from SASSA.
These are the same seven rules published on our editorial policy page. If you catch us breaking one, that is a correction, and rule 5 applies.
What observed and confirmed mean here
Confirmed means we read it in a SASSA or Department of Social Development publication, and the page carries the link and the date we checked it.
Observed means we are describing a pattern, from what our own checks return or from what readers tell us, and we label it as an observation. An observation can be useful without being a rule, and we will not dress it up as one.
When SASSA has not published something yet, we say that and date the absence. We do not fill a gap with a date, an amount or a promise that nobody has made.
The dates on our pages
Every page shows the date a person last read it and checked the facts, not the date the site was last rebuilt.
A build can stamp today's date on a thousand pages without anyone reading one of them. We do not do that. If the review date on a page has not moved, nothing on that page has been changed.
This page was last reviewed on 29 October 2026.
How to report an error
Email hello@sassacheck.org.za with the page address and what you think is wrong, and we will investigate within five business days.
If the error was material, we update the page and add a visible correction notice with the date. A correction notice is never quietly deleted, even after the page has been fixed for years.
We would rather be corrected than be shared. A wrong payment date on a page about R370 is not a small mistake for the person who plans around it.
How SassaCheck is funded
For status-check data, security-record retention and advertising cookies, read our privacy policy and cookie policy.
We do not sell links. We do not accept payment to approve, speed up or change anything, because we cannot do any of those things. If that changes, this page changes first and the date moves.
Who is behind SassaCheck
Operator, registration and Information Officer details are available on request. Contact us at hello@sassacheck.org.za.

SassaCheck has no social media profiles at launch. If you are not sure whether an account using our name is ours, email us and ask before you share anything with it.
What SassaCheck will never do
SassaCheck will never ask you for money, a PIN, a password, an OTP or your bank card number.
- We will not charge you to check a status. There is no fee and no paid tier.
- We will not phone you about your grant.
- We will not promise to approve, speed up or release a grant.
- We will not ask you to send money to anyone, including us.
- We will not ask you to forward an OTP. An OTP is yours, and nobody needs it except you.
- We will not tell you that you have to use this site. You never do.
