Contact SassaCheck

Email is how you reach SassaCheck, and this page shows what to send, when we reply, and what we cannot do.

What SassaCheck cannot do

We cannot approve, decline, change, suspend or speed up any grant, and we cannot change your banking details or phone number.

Can you approve, decline or change my grant?

No. Only SASSA can do that. We show you the status that SASSA's public status service returns and explain what it means. We cannot approve, decline, suspend, reinstate, cancel or speed up a grant.

Can you see my SASSA file or tell me why my application is pending?

No. We cannot access SASSA's systems. We see the same status that SASSA shows on its public status page. No reason, notes or documents come with it. SASSA does not publish a reason for a status, and we will not guess at one.

Can you change my banking details or phone number?

No. Banking details and phone numbers are changed through SASSA, not through us. Our guides explain the steps, but we cannot make the change or see whether it worked.

How to contact SassaCheck

Email hello@sassacheck.org.za and put a clear word in the subject line, such as Question, POPIA or Press.

ChannelSubject lineUse it forEmail
General questionsQuestionStatus meanings, our guides, the checker, or a correction to a pagehello@sassacheck.org.za
Legal and POPIAPOPIA or LegalData requests, deletion requests, legal notices and Information Officer requestshello@sassacheck.org.za
PressPressMedia questions, quotes and interview requestshello@sassacheck.org.za

All three channels use the same inbox. The subject line is the only sorting we ask you to do.

Before you email

Do not send your ID number, your cellphone number, a PIN, a password or an OTP.

We do not need your ID number or cellphone number to answer a question, so please leave them out of your email. Never send a PIN, password or OTP to anyone, including us.

If your question is about a status, tell us the status word you saw and the date you saw it. Then tell us what you want to know. That is enough for us to point you to the right page or to SASSA. If you want to understand a status before you write, see what each SRD status means.

For a correction, use the Question subject line and send the page address and the sentence you think is wrong. Our editorial policy explains how we handle corrections.

When we reply

We answer emails Monday to Friday, during business hours (confirm availability before calling) SAST, and we reply within 2 business days.

Email is the only channel we answer. We publish no phone number.

Operator and address details

We do not publish the operator's company name, registration number, registered address or Information Officer details on this site.

Operator, registration and Information Officer details are available on request. Contact us at hello@sassacheck.org.za.

SassaCheck is an independent service. We are not SASSA and not a government website. We cannot approve, decline or change any grant. See who runs this site.

Where to get help with your own status

For current helpline, email and other support options, see our SASSA contacts page. Check card or bank-account queries directly with your bank or Postbank.

Common questions

There is no fee and no phone number, and we have no social profiles yet. Email is the only channel to use.

Do you charge a fee?

No. The checker is free and there is no paid tier. We do not accept payment to approve, speed up or change anything, because we cannot do any of those things.

Do you have a phone number or WhatsApp?

No. We publish no phone number and no WhatsApp number, and we have no social profiles yet. Email hello@sassacheck.org.za.

How do I ask you to delete my data?

Email hello@sassacheck.org.za with POPIA in the subject line. Our delete my data page explains what to send and what we can remove. You can also read how the checker handles your details.

What if someone uses the SassaCheck name to ask for money?

Email hello@sassacheck.org.za and tell us what happened. Report it to the registry that manages .org.za. Do not pay. SassaCheck never asks for money, a PIN, a password or an OTP.
